Well, what has changed? I have originally developed fwanalog on OpenBSD 2.9 and never had that problem. (You should update anyway, as 2.9 is quite old and has known security bugs.)

The line it complains about doesn't even have a [ in it.

Do you have Analog on the path or specified its path? What about the other programs? Are they the GNU ones or at least close? (That should be OK on OpenBSD 2.9.)
